Excerpt from Chapter Six: Change Starts Within
Change does not happen externally; it begins within. Often, we get caught up in past regrets or future worries, neglecting the present moment. However, personal growth requires mindfulness, awareness, and intentional action.
Jon Kabat-Zinn defines mindfulness as “an awareness arising from paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, without judgment.” There are three key elements to mindfulness:
Intention – Choosing to cultivate awareness.
Attention – Focusing on the present moment.
Attitude – Approaching life with curiosity, kindness, and non-judgment.
By practicing mindfulness, we break free from autopilot mode and become active participants in our lives. When we intentionally pay attention to our thoughts, emotions, and reactions, we regain control over our actions and responses.
